Joe Maruca Memorial Scholarship Fund
All scholarship applications need to be submitted using IVCF's online scholarship application system. Please note that there is an eligibility quiz in the online portal to help students identify scholarships that they are eligible for.
The deadline for all scholarship applications is Friday, April 12, 2024.

The Foundations is grateful for the opportunity to hold and administer the Joe Maruca Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Joe Maruca, former County Supervisor and former Superintendent of the Central Union High School and Imperial Unified School Districts. Thank you to the Maruca family for allowing us the privilege of helping to remember his legacy and to serve Imperial Valley students.
The Joe Maruca Memorial Scholarship is open to:
- Graduating seniors of the Central Union High School, Imperial High School, and Southwest High School who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (unweighted) and will be attending a 4-year college or university.
- Previous recipients are eligible to reapply, but subsequent awards are not guaranteed.
The scholarship criteria will include consideration for:
- Academic merit
- Education plans and career goals
- Community / civic service
- Engagement / participation in school activities (i.e. athletics, clubs, student government, etc.)
- Financial need
Application Requirements & Details
- Applicants may be required to participate in an interview process with the Scholarship Advisory Committee.
- Award amounts may vary from year to year.
- Previous recipients may reapply for future consideration, but subsequent awards are not guaranteed.
- Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or university.
- In special circumstances, awards may be paid to the student directly. However, it will be the responsibility of the student to fulfill with proper reporting, disclosure and appropriate use of scholarship funds.
